YASHICA FX-3 Super 2000

The Yashica FX3 Super 2000 is the first proper manual film SLR I have used in decades. It feels like coming home. When I got this camera, it was not just about nostalgia. It was a way of reconnecting with the values I inherited from my opa, things like taking care of what you own, learning to use it well, and making something meaningful with your hands. That is what this Yashica FX3 Super 2000 represents for me.
I found it in excellent shape and it came with something rare, the Yashica ML 50mm f/1.2 lens. That glass is no gimmick. Wide open, it has a softness and glow that feels cinematic. It reminds me to slow down and really observe. It is a joy to shoot in low light and beautiful for portraits or quiet scenes.
This setup fits right into my renewed love for street and candid photography. I have also been testing out film stocks, including some Boen rolls from Indonesia. The mechanical shutter connects me to each frame I shoot. It is also teaching me patience and discipline, helping me understand exposure in a hands-on way.
More than anything, this camera is helping me rediscover photography as a craft. I am also putting together a little guide for it, with dropdown tips and lens notes to support my learning. Maybe one day it will help someone else too.
